The short version
We are paid by installers, not by homeowners and not by government bodies. Installers pay us in one or both of two ways: a fee per qualified lead we send them, and an optional monthly fee for a labelled featured slot. That is the entire revenue model. There is no third form of payment, no display advertising, and no data sale.
What installers pay, specifically
Pay-per-lead: £40–£120
When you submit an enquiry asking to be connected with an installer, and we pass your details to a matched, MCS-certified installer, that installer pays us a fee for that lead. The fee varies between roughly £40 and £120 depending on the size and scarcity of the job and area — a small rural extension enquiry and a full retrofit in a high-demand postcode do not cost an installer the same to acquire.
Featured listing: £199 per month, per postcode area
Separately, an installer can pay £199/month for a featured slot in a specific postcode area. This buys them one thing: a branded card, shown in a slot labelled Featured, positioned above the standard results for that area. It is exclusive — we sell one featured slot per postcode area, not several competing for the same spot.
Featured status does not change where an installer sits in the standard, unlabelled results underneath. Those results are ordered by proximity to your postcode and current MCS certification status, full stop — a featured installer and a free-listed installer are ranked by exactly the same rule in that list.
What this does and does not influence
What paying us can influence
- Whether an installer appears in a clearly labelled "Featured" slot above the standard, proximity-ranked results for a postcode area
- Whether we display a per-lead cost figure to an installer weighing up whether to take on more work through the site
What paying us cannot influence
- The order of the core, unlabelled installer results — that is proximity and current MCS certification status only
- Whether an installer is listed at all — any MCS-certified installer covering an area can have a free listing
- What our guides, calculators, and grant explainers say — no installer, manufacturer, or funder previews or approves editorial content
- Your BUS eligibility result or cost calculator output — those run on published DESNZ, Ofgem and MCS figures, not on who has paid us
- Which installers we consider "worth" listing — MCS certification on the public register is the only bar
Independent of DESNZ, Ofgem and MCS
We are not paid by, funded by, contracted to, or otherwise affiliated with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Ofgem, or MCS (the Microgeneration Certification Scheme). We use their published data — grant rules, price caps, and the public installer register — because it is the best available public source, not because any of them endorse this site. Nothing on heatpumpsaver.co.uk should be read as an official government or MCS publication.
What we do not do
- We do not run display advertising.
- We do not take a commission or percentage of the price you pay an installer for work.

- We do not charge homeowners for any tool, guide, calculator, or installer introduction on this site.
