Grants — frequently asked questions
Can I combine multiple grants?
In some cases, yes. ECO4 and BUS can sometimes layer — for example, ECO4 may pay for insulation upgrades that allow you to qualify for BUS. You cannot, however, receive two grants for the same installation. Your installer is best placed to model the combination for your case.
How long does it take to receive the BUS grant?
You do not receive the money personally. Your MCS installer applies on your behalf through the Ofgem portal, and the grant is deducted from your invoice. Approval typically takes 2–4 weeks from application.
Is the £7,500 amount changing?
It was raised from £5,000 to £7,500 in October 2023. There is no announced further change. Government policy can shift quickly, so we update this page within seven days of any official announcement.
